A review of Savannah's newest "resort" in the city.

As an Atlanta native, Savannah has always been one of my favorite weekend trips. When I heard that a brand new hotel was opening, I immediately started planning a visit and invited one of my best girlfriends to tag along.
OVERVIEW
Hotel Bardo is located across from Savannah's iconic Forsyth Park (and yes - park view rooms are available). On the outside, Hotel Bardo looks like another historic building from the antebellum period - and it is. The hotel is actually a refurbished version of the Forsyth Park Mansion - originally built in 1888.
But on the inside, it's a trendy, luxurious, full-service resort.
What drew me to Hotel Bardo was that it was unlike any other hotel in Savannah. Not only is it immaculately stylish, it offers an experience - expansive, sparkling pool area, onsite spa and wellness center, an exclusive members-only club, and then some. Here I'll be recapping my stay and giving my verdict on whether or not it's worth it.

THE ROOM
Hotel Bardo is effortlessly chic and stylish. The rooms are a mix of mid-century modern furnishings with feminine touches at every corner.
We booked the Standard Double Queen and at 460 sq ft, it was more than enough for the both of us to spread out and get comfortable. Only the Standard King is smaller than this at 410 sq ft - still massive compared to other hotels in the area.
The room had two queen sized beds, a sitting nook, closet and mini bar loaded with snacks and beverages. I loved that our room had a separate tub and shower and even a separate little room for the toilet. Plus, each bathroom had a Dyson hair dryer - a super sweet touch, especially after those long days hanging at the pool.
The hotel provides a true boutique experience, with just 126 rooms and thoughtful services. While most of the rooms are standard double or king rooms, the hotel also offers a variety of suites with pool views, balconies and even a family terrace suite with twin bunkbeds.
During my stay I got an exclusive tour of the property with the Director of Sales. I can tell you that all of the rooms are as clean and pretty as they look in the pictures. You can check out all of the room types here.
WHAT I LOVED
The best part of my stay was the ambiance. The hotel was absolutely stunning from the rooms, to the lobby, to the outdoor courtyard, and the sunny poolside Bar Bibi. All of the spaces added to the luxe-feel, while still having an essence of approachability and inclusion.

During our stay, my friend and I made a reservation for Hotel Bardo's glamorous onsite restaurant - Saint Bibiana. The menu is comprised of Italian cuisine with a contemporary, mediterranean twist. Pro Tip: When you book with us, you can use your complimentary dining credits to enjoy a meal here.
The design and ambiance was exquisite (if you haven't noticed by now, every inch of this hotel is flawlessly executed). The food was tasty too! We ordered the ravioli dish and had some of the focaccia bread - which was to die for!

In the morning, the hotel also offers a complimentary, European-style continental breakfast. Think fresh baked goods, fruit and an assortment of teas and coffees. While light, everything was VERY tasty and honestly a good choice for those that don't like a heavy breakfast. If you need a bigger meal Saint Bibiana offers brunch or you can dine at Collins Quarter in Forsyth Park.
While here, we took advantage of the complimentary Pilates class. I am a wellness lover myself and love when I can get a quick class in during vacation. Other wellness classes included: yoga, meditation sculpt and Bardo Bootcamp.
The resort offers other light programming, one of the most impressive being the Cooking School at Saint Bibiana. There is an array of different class types, including ones made for kids and families.
Outside of the wellness classes and cooking school, Hotel Bardo provides an array of different tastings and mixology classes, live music events and walking tours of Historic Savannah. You can check out all that they offer, here.

Finally, the POOL. One of the best hotel pools I have experienced in a city, as it is truly resort style, The pool area offers plenty of lounge chairs and a few cabanas. Plus, guests can order drinks and snacks from the poolside bar, Bar Bibi, A perfect way to spend a summer afternoon in Savannah.
WHO SHOULD STAY HERE
Because of the large rooms and plentiful onsite activities, this property is best suited for groups seeking an upscale, fun escape in Savannah. The room types make it perfect for a girl's trip, family stay or baecation.
I also believe that Hotel Bardo would make a picture-perfect backdrop for any event. There are a variety of spaces to host and enough rooms for group blocks.
If you want to be in walking distance to River Street, this is probably not the right stay. The hotel is in a great location for exploring Forsyth Park, upscale restaurants and historic Savannah, but you'll have to take an Uber to get the River North district., Not a total dealbreaker for everything else that you get here!
THE VERDICT?
Personally, I think it's worth it. I would highly recommend Hotel Bardo to clients and can’t wait to come back on my next visit to Savannah!
